"Children also die, they are defenseless before an incurable illness or a life-threatening condition. Most people are so baffling and they can not accept it, because it is believed that the childhood should be happy and carefree, and not obscured ailments and death.
When it happens, the duty of civil society is to provide medical, psychological and spiritual support to the child and the family throughout the period preceding death and characterized by moments of distrust, distress and uncertainty. The child has rights. These fundamental rights must be respected and adhered to as they guarantee comprehensive protection for the child and family. "
Together with the Acting Minister of Health of Ulyana Suprun and representatives of the All-Ukrainian Council of Churches signed the Charter of the Rights of Children Who Die.
The rights of all seriously ill children and their families to receive proper palliative care are extremely important.
The Charter affirms the right of the child to have effective and targeted assistance by promoting, among other things, the adoption of legislation that will provide proper and special assistance.
Palliative care for children aims to provide relief for suffering and the highest available quality of life for seriously ill children and their families since diagnosis, illness, life expectancy, and loss of life by family members.
Thank you very much to the signatories of the Charter for the indifference and sympathy of the seriously ill Ukrainian children.
