Training center created in 2005 by the Charity Foundation for terminally ill "Mother Teresa". Its purpose is to organize staff training Ivano-Frankivsk hospice and diffusion of knowledge in the organization and provision of palliative care among various specialists of the medical community.
It is possible to allocate three stages of development of educational-methodical center:
2005-2006 – main actions: in cooperation with Ivano-Frankivsk basic medical College established "the School of caring for the critically ill"; published a textbook for the volunteers; supported the training of hospice in Poland; prepared and held a seminar together with experts of the kraków hospice; signed 3-party agreement with the hospice of Poland and Slovakia.
2007-2008 – main action: the session began with the medical staff of the hospitals of Ivano-Frankivsk region and some Western regions; in collaboration with the community hospice of Lodz (Poland) held a conference; began public lectures for students of medical University and medical College.
2009-2017 -- the activity of the training centre has expanded thanks to the support of educational projects from the International Fund "Revival": the training is carried out for various specialists from all over Ukraine, including - exit; started seminars for doctors and nurses at the faculty of continuing education; implemented training on palliative care for children and on the organization of palliative care field (mobile) services; conducted 2 international conference: "Implementation of standards of palliative care" (2013), "the Practice of palliative care in the Eurasian region. Exchange of experience" (2017), and the first national forum on the establishment of the Association of palliative care for children; held 3 thematic advanced training for physicians in the departments of social medicine, health organization and medical law (2014) and Pediatrics (2016) national medical University and nurses at the medical College (2013) according to the joint orders of the Department of health with educational institutions; trainers training center take an active part in publications, public lectures on TV and other media.
Main results of activity of the training centre:
14549 different specialists and students received theoretical and practical knowledge on issues of organization and provision of palliative care.
Advocacy training and dissemination of knowledge to change the opinion of the society, medical community and government representatives about the essence, the philosophy and meaning of palliative care. This allowed to adopt a comprehensive regional program for palliative care. To begin the development of an integrated system and establish a network of institutions for palliative care to implement the best international practices.
