"Mother Teresa Charitable Fund for Helping the Terminally Ill"
Brief information about the organization:
BO "Mother Teresa Charitable Fund for Helping the Terminally Ill" was created by the founding meeting of a collective of caring people (11 people, minutes of the meeting dated 08/28/2000), Registration Certificate No. 66 dated 09/05/2000 issued by the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Department of Justice. Currently, 20 members of the charity fund are registered.
According to the Charter, the main goal and main directions of activity are:
promoting the development of a network of mobile palliative care in the Ivano-Frankivsk region;
organization of various assistance for the mobile palliative care department existing in OKL (methodological, scientific, material, financial, labor resources, etc.);
organization of medical, psychological, and social assistance to patients in the terminal stages of oncological and other diseases;
organization of training programs for staff and volunteers on the care and treatment of the seriously ill.
Experience of charity work of the "Mother Teresa" Foundation:
In general, over the years of our existence, we have helped:
hospital-hospice in the purchase of food products, medicines, care and hygiene items, laundry and detergents, equipment;
patients who could not be hospitalized and were at home, in specialist consultations, purchasing medicines and care items;
specialists, staff and volunteers in their training on the organization of hospice services and care for the seriously ill, in training centers in Ukraine and abroad;
in the organization of conferences and seminars for doctors and nurses of various specialties;
in the dissemination of information among the medical community and the population of the region;
in spreading palliative care in general and drawing society's attention to the realization of the right of every terminally ill person to a dignified end to his earthly life;
in attracting the attention of representatives of the authorities and the widest possible circle of the public to the global processes of development of palliative care;
in the development of the institution of volunteering and chaplaincy;
in the development of programs, advocacy and promotion of the development of the network of hospice service institutions in the Ivano-Frankivsk region ("Hospice at Home Outpatient Advisory Service", "First Children's Hospice", palliative departments in the Prykarpattia districts);
in the integration of training programs on palliative and hospice care into the programs of the local Medical University and two medical colleges;
created an educational and methodological center on the basis of the Regional Center for Palliative Care (Hospice), and its further activities (with the financial support of the "Renaissance" MF).
contributed to the creation of a mobile palliative care center at the Regional Clinical Hospital.
In accordance with its Charter, BF carries out the following main areas of activity:
provides free consultation, special care and specialized medical care at home to patients according to the "palliative care" profile;
provides, if necessary, legal counseling of patients and their relatives;
carries out training of relatives of patients in the skills of caring for seriously ill and terminally ill patients;
provides psychological support to patients and their relatives during the loss of a loved one;
organizes consultations with leading specialists of medical institutions for patients;
provides organizational and methodological assistance to health care institutions of our region in matters of palliative care and special care;
advises patients with severe pain syndrome;
carries out training of volunteers on issues of caring for seriously ill patients;
is an educational base for palliative treatment and special care of incurable patients for Ivano-Frankivsk Medical College and Medical University;
organizes training and exchange of experience for employees of the OKL mobile palliative care center;
conducts scientific and practical activities;
participates in all activities related to the development and provision of palliative care within Ukraine and abroad.
